Game Overview
Street Racer on the Sega Genesis is basically the scrappy cousin of Super Mario Kart—not as polished, but still a blast with friends. You pick from eight cars, each with their own quirks (some are speed demons but handle like shopping carts, others are tanks that plow through everything). The tracks are chaotic, with bombs dropping out of nowhere and nitro boosts that send you flying into walls if you’re not careful.
Best part? Four-player split-screen. If you don’t have friends around, the AI drivers are surprisingly aggressive—they’ll shove you into obstacles like they’ve got a personal grudge. Winning the first league unlocks the next, and suddenly those tight corners feel way harder than they should. It’s the kind of game where you’ll yell at the screen after getting hit by the same oil slick three times in a row.
Not gonna lie, the graphics are rough by today’s standards, but there’s something charming about the janky physics and over-the-top power-ups. Just don’t expect Mario Kart-level finesse.
