Streets of Rage on the Master System is that classic beat 'em up where you pick between three ex-cops (Axel’s my go-to) and just start punching your way through waves of thugs. The sprites are chunky, the music’s got that early ‘90s synth vibe, and Mr. X’s goons somehow always manage to corner you right when your health is low.

It’s simpler than the Genesis version—fewer moves, smaller levels—but there’s something satisfying about how straightforward it is. You’ll grab pipes, knives, whatever’s lying around, and by the third stage, you’ll be muttering “oh come on” when another knife guy spawns behind you. Still holds up if you’re into that old-school arcade brawler feel.
