Sumo Fighter sounds like a sports game, but it’s actually this weirdly charming little platformer where you play as a sumo wrestler on a mission to save his girlfriend. You’d think he’d just bulldoze through everything, but nope—he’s got to jump gaps, punch enemies, and occasionally stomp them into submission (which is oddly satisfying).

The levels are short but tough, with hidden mini-games that pop up if you poke around. They’re all wrestling-themed—arm wrestling, thumb wrestling, the works—but really just quick timing challenges. The best part? You earn XP for pretty much everything, and when you level up, you get to choose between boosting your punches, stomps, or health. I went all-in on stomping early and regretted it when the bosses got mean.

It’s janky in that classic Game Boy way, but there’s something about a sumo guy platforming his heart out that just works. The final boss is a nightmare, though.
