Game Overview

Street Fighter III 18 Person was an unofficial, fan-made port for the Sega Genesis, developed by enthusiasts rather than an official studio. It arrived late in the console's life, when many players had already moved on to newer systems, but it offered a curious glimpse into what might have been possible with more time and resources.

You control one of 18 fighters, each with their own special moves and combos, facing off against opponents in one-on-one battles across various stages. The main goal is to deplete your rival's health bar before they do the same to you, using a mix of normal attacks, unique techniques, and super arts. Signature mechanics include parrying, which lets you deflect incoming strikes with precise timing, and EX moves, powered-up versions of special attacks that consume part of your super gauge. The pacing is fast, and the input demands can feel strict on the Genesis controller, but landing a well-timed parry or closing out a round with a custom combo delivers a solid sense of accomplishment. It feels like a rough but earnest attempt to bring a deeper fighting game experience to the 16-bit era.
