Super Mario Flash Halloween is this weird little gem where Mario’s usual sunny worlds get swapped for something way creepier. You’re jumping through foggy levels packed with boos that pop out of nowhere and these skeletal beetles that just won’t quit. Every stage ends with a boss fight—some are pushovers, others will make you groan.
It’s actually more forgiving than your typical Mario game since you don’t instantly die from getting hit (though pit falls are still instant death, obviously). The controls feel a bit floaty at first, but you get used to it after a level or two. The whole thing has this janky charm, like someone remade Mario in a haunted house. If you’re into weird Flash-era platformers, this one’s worth a few tries.
