Super Mario Star Scramble 2: Ghost Island is one of those Mario fangames that looks simple but will absolutely wreck you. Instead of just running to the flagpole, you’ve gotta hunt down three stars per level to unlock the exit—and trust me, some of these are hidden in the most obnoxious spots. The ghost theme gives it a cool, slightly eerie vibe, with Boos popping up everywhere and platforms that vanish if you hesitate too long.
It’s got all the usual Mario enemies (Goombas, Rexes, even those annoying Hammer Bros), but the level design gets seriously mean by the halfway point. I got stuck on Level 6 for ages because one star was tucked behind a fake wall. Classic Flash game jank, but in a weirdly charming way. If you’re into tough-but-fair platformers, this one’s a solid time-waster.
