Super Metroid Volta (Demo 2) feels like someone dug into your childhood SNES and secretly added new levels while you weren’t looking. The moment you start moving, it’s pure Super Metroid—same weighty jumps, same satisfying blaster sounds—but then you stumble into rooms that definitely weren’t in the original. Some of the new enemies hit hard, and I got wrecked by a flying thing in the first five minutes because I got cocky.

The demo’s just a slice of whatever the full thing will be, but there’s already some clever tweaks. One power-up made me stop and go, “Wait, that’s genius,” and I won’t spoil it because the surprise is half the fun. Pixel art’s spot-on, down to the way Samus’ arm cannon lights up dark corridors. If you’ve ever replayed the original a dozen times and wished for something new, this is it.

Just don’t expect to breeze through—whoever made this knows exactly how Metroid veterans think and loves messing with them.
