Super Empire Strikes Back is one of those SNES games that looks way better than it has any right to—seriously, the sprite work and backgrounds still hold up. You jump between playing as Luke, Han, and Leia across levels that loosely follow the movie, blasting stormtroopers and dodging probe droids. The Hoth level with the snowspeeders? Absolute chaos in the best way.

It’s tough as nails, though. Those ice caves will wreck you if you don’t memorize the jumps, and the AT-AT boss fight feels like it takes forever. But nailing a perfect run with the lightsaber or finally beating Boba Fett makes it worth the frustration. The music’s all classic Star Wars, too—you’ll hum it for days.

Definitely a relic of the "hard because why not" era of platformers, but if you grew up with it, there’s still something satisfying about the clunky, pixelated charm.
