Play Super Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back Online
Blast through Hoth’s trenches, slash stormtroopers with Luke’s lightsaber, and yank AT-ATs down with tow cables—just watch out for those Dagobah spiders while hunting for Force upgrades. Han’s grenades and Chewie’s raw strength make each character feel different.

Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back on SNES takes everything that made the first game great and cranks it up. You’ll blast through Hoth’s icy trenches, fumble around Dagobah’s swampy maze (good luck finding Yoda without getting jumped by giant spiders), and even take on AT-ATs in a snowspeeder—complete with that sweet Mode-7 scaling effect that felt like magic back in the day.
This time, Luke, Han, and Chewie actually play differently. Han’s grenades make short work of crowds, Chewbacca just bulldozes through everything like a walking carpet tank, and Luke finally gets his lightsaber—though you’ll need quick reflexes to deflect blaster shots. The Dagobah level hides Force orbs that unlock abilities like push and heal, which is cool until you realize you’ve burned through your Force meter halfway through Cloud City.
It’s still brutally hard in that classic 16-bit way (those Probe Droids don’t mess around), but the password system means you won’t lose all progress after the hundredth death. The vehicle sections are chaotic fun, especially the Falcon’s asteroid field run—just don’t expect it to play anything like the movie. You’ll fight weird mini-bosses and take detours that never happened on screen, but that’s part of the charm.
