Game Overview

Super Tennis on SNES is one of those games that makes you forget how old it is—it just nails the feel of tennis. You pick from 20 different players, each with their own quirks (some have killer serves but move like molasses, others are lightning-fast but can’t smash for beans). The surfaces actually matter too—clay slows everything down, grass makes the ball skid, and hardcourt’s somewhere in between.

Circuit mode’s where it gets addictive. You hop between tournaments, climbing the rankings with every win. The password save system is a bit of a pain (no battery backup here), but it’s worth it when you finally crack the top 10. The four majors feel like real events, and the minor tournaments are perfect for grinding points. Doubles is chaotic fun, especially with a friend—just don’t blame me when you start arguing over who missed the easy volley.

It’s simple enough to pick up, but there’s a surprising amount of depth if you dig into player stats and court types. Still holds up as one of the best tennis games out there.
