Play Swords and Serpents (France) Online
You and three friends pick classes and crawl through pitch-black dungeons—run out of torches, and suddenly you're all fumbling while skeletons close in. The magic system actually makes you think before casting, and those pit traps? Pure evil.

Game Overview
Swords and Serpents is one of those NES games that feels like it was designed to test friendships. You and up to three others crawl through dark, maze-like dungeons where every corner hides something that wants to kill you—or worse, a pit trap that sends you tumbling back to the start. The torch mechanic alone is brutal; run out of light, and suddenly you're fumbling in the dark while snakes and skeletons close in.
What makes it weirdly great is how much it nails that tabletop RPG vibe despite the NES limitations. You’ve got four distinct classes (fighter, thief, priest, wizard), and actually needing to balance their skills feels more strategic than most dungeon crawlers from that era. The magic system’s surprisingly involved too—none of that "fire spell, now wait five floors to recharge" nonsense.
Just don’t expect mercy. This game loves throwing curveballs, like secret doors that only the thief can spot or puzzles that require specific spells. It’s clunky, unforgiving, and absolutely the kind of game where someone will yell "I TOLD you to save the healing potion!" as the party gets devoured by a dragon. If that sounds like your idea of a good time, grab some extra controllers.
