Syvalion is one of those weird, cool SNES games that never got enough love. You pilot this segmented dragon-spaceship thing that slithers around the screen, dodging obstacles while torching robots with fire breath. The twist? Your fuel drains when you attack, but recharges as you move—so you’re constantly balancing aggression with repositioning.
Each segment acts like a health bar, changing color when hit, which makes every close call feel tense. The levels throw indestructible obstacles at you too, so you’re weaving through narrow gaps while fending off enemies. It’s chaotic in the best way.
There’s a story mode (Real Combat Series), a tutorial-heavy Basic Series for learning the ropes, and a Time Attack mode if you just want to go for high scores. Later, it got bundled in Taito Legends 2 for PS2, but the SNES version still feels the most responsive. The dragon controls like a dream once you get used to it.
