Game Overview

I picked up T2: The Arcade Game for the Super Nintendo back in 1993, a port of the light gun cabinet handled by Probe Software. It was a time when arcade conversions were everywhere, and this one tried to bring the explosive, on-screen chaos of the film to the home console, trading the physical Uzis for a standard controller and a lot of imagination.

You control the crosshair, moving it around the screen to shoot down an endless stream of T-800 endoskeletons and police cars. The main goal is simple: survive each wave, protect your health bar, and rack up a high score. The gameplay is strictly on rails, meaning the camera moves for you, leaving you to focus solely on aiming and firing. You collect power-ups for temporary weapon upgrades, like the shotgun or grenade launcher, which offer a brief but satisfying surge of destructive power. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty spikes quickly, demanding sharp reflexes to avoid the constant barrage of enemy fire. It feels like a frantic, pixelated shooting gallery that captures the loud, simple thrill of the arcade original.
