Game Overview

Tadaima Yuusha Boshuuchuu Okawari is one of those SNES RPGs that makes you wonder how it stayed a Japan-only secret. Right from the start, it throws you into this absurd world where recruiting heroes feels more like herding cats—half of them are useless in battle, one’s terrified of swords, and another might just take a nap mid-fight.

The combat’s straightforward turn-based stuff, but the real fun comes from the writing. It’s like someone took every fantasy trope and gave it a gentle (or not-so-gentle) nudge off a cliff. You’ll fight the usual monsters, sure, but then some pompous knight trips over his own armor, or your party gets into an argument about whether loot counts as "shared" if someone eats it.

If you’ve played EarthBound or Super Mario RPG and wished they were even weirder, this is your kind of game. Just don’t expect your heroes to act heroic—half the time, they’re the problem.
