Tatakae! Big Fighter is one of those arcade brawlers that makes your palms sweat after five minutes. You pick from these ridiculous, over-the-top fighters—I went with the guy who throws flaming dumplings for some reason—and then it's just non-stop punching through waves of enemies. The screen gets so chaotic with neon-colored explosions that you'll occasionally lose track of your own character, but somehow that just adds to the charm.

It's got that perfect arcade feel where the controls are simple (mash buttons, occasionally jump) but the timing actually matters. I kept getting wrecked by the third-stage boss until I realized you can counter his charge attack if you hit punch at just the right moment. The music's all screechy synth stuff that somehow makes getting combo'd by a clown with a chainsaw feel like an honor.

Definitely one of those "one more try" games when you're waiting for your laundry to finish.
