Play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 - Battle Nexus (U)(Venom) Online
Battle through waves of Foot Clan enemies, switch between Turtles, solve puzzles, and unleash team attacks in this beat 'em up adventure on Game Boy Advance.
I picked up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus for the Game Boy Advance back in 2004, a Konami release that fit right in with the handheld's library of action platformers. It was based on the 2003 animated series, and while it didn't break new ground, it offered a solid beat 'em up experience for fans of the Turtles. The GBA was full of licensed games at the time, and this one felt like a decent effort, not just a quick cash-in.
You control one of the four Turtles, each with their own weapon and slightly different moves, as you fight through waves of Foot Clan enemies across side scrolling levels. The main goal is to clear each stage of enemies and obstacles, often facing a boss at the end. Signature mechanics include switching between Turtles on the fly to use their unique abilities for solving environmental puzzles, and performing team attacks for extra damage. The pacing is brisk, with occasional spikes in difficulty from enemy placements or platforming sections. It feels satisfying to chain together attacks and clear a screen full of foes, even if the action can get repetitive after a while.
