Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Mutant Nightmare came out for the Nintendo DS in 2005, developed and published by Konami. It was part of that early wave of DS titles trying to figure out how to use both screens and the touch controls without just feeling like a gimmick. The game follows the plot of the 2003 animated series, where the Turtles are dealing with a new wave of mutants causing trouble in New York City.

You control one of the four Turtles at a time, switching between them on the fly to use their unique abilities. Leo can perform higher jumps, Donatello handles tech-based puzzles, and each has their own weapon and special move. The main goal is to fight through side-scrolling levels, clearing rooms of Foot Clan ninjas and other mutants. You use the touch screen for special attacks and combos, which actually integrates pretty smoothly into the action. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike in later stages, especially during boss fights. It feels like a solid, action-packed brawler that makes decent use of the hardware.
