Play The Godfather Online
Dodge stray bullets and mobsters in this side-scroller where one wrong shot at a civilian ends your run—boss fights are brutal, and yeah, you'll even blast a helicopter at the end.
So The Godfather on MS-DOS is this weird little side-scrolling shooter where you blast your way through mobsters while trying not to accidentally cap civilians—which, yeah, instantly ends your run. Feels a bit like a mix of Contra and those old arcade light gun games, especially when it randomly throws you into first-person segments.
Most levels end with a boss fight (usually some rival gangster with way too much health), and there are these odd mini-games between stages—like disarming bombs or something—that feel totally out of place but hey, it’s the ‘90s. The finale’s actually kind of cool though: you’re shooting down a helicopter while protecting Michael Corleone, straight out of Godfather Part III. Weirdly specific, but at least someone remembered that movie existed.
It’s janky, it’s dated, but there’s something charming about how it tries to cram the entire trilogy into a shooter that barely makes sense. Just don’t expect deep lore.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
