Play The King of Fighters EX2 - Howling Blood (E)(Rising Sun) Online

Two-on-two fights with schoolgirls swinging bats and dudes painting people to death—somehow it all clicks on the GBA. Chunky sprites, tight controls, and way less jank than the first EX game.

Game Overview

KOF EX2 on GBA is one of those rare fighting game ports that actually feels right on a handheld. It’s got that classic King of Fighters team-based chaos, but with a few new faces like Moe Habana (some schoolgirl with a baseball bat) and Jun Kagami (who fights with… a paintbrush?). Weird picks, but they fit right in with the usual suspects like Kyo and Iori.

The sprites are chunky but clean, and the controls are surprisingly responsive for a GBA fighter—no button-mashing disasters here. You can tell they tweaked the engine from the first EX game; combos actually connect now. Still not arcade-perfect, but for a portable KOF fix in 2003? Solid.

Just don’t expect a ton of single-player content. It’s basically arcade mode, versus, and a barebones survival thing. But if you’ve got a friend with a link cable, that’s where it shines. Team battles on the bus never felt so good.
