Man, The King of Fighters EX2 on GBA surprised me—it’s way smoother than I expected for a handheld fighter. You’ve got your usual KOF crew, but they threw in some wildcards like Moe Habana (this weird ninja girl with a puppet) and Jun Kagami (who fights with… a deck of cards?).
The sprites are chunky but clean, and pulling off supers doesn’t feel impossible like some portable fighters. First match in, I got wrecked by Iori’s flames because I forgot how fast his combos chain. Classic KOF chaos, just pocket-sized.
It’s not perfect—the AI cheats sometimes—but for a GBA sequel, they packed in way more personality than most fighting games at the time.
