You mostly play as Dr. Angelo or Carla, running and gunning through levels based on the movie—gas stations, VSI labs, that kind of thing. The controls are clunky by today’s standards, but back then, the ability to upgrade weapons and unlock a temporary invincibility suit (the "Virtual Suit") felt pretty cool.
Then there are these sudden 3D sections that feel like they’re from a completely different game. One minute you’re side-scrolling, the next you’re dodging neon obstacles in first-person or speeding through a tunnel blasting enemies. They’re janky as hell, but honestly? Kind of mesmerizing in a "how did this even get approved" way. The Cyber Tube level especially feels like someone’s fever dream.
It’s not a masterpiece, but if you’re into ‘90s oddities or just want to see Pierce Brosnan’s digital ghost haunting a video game, it’s a weird little time capsule. Just don’t expect the plot to make much sense unless you’ve seen the movie.
