Game Overview

If you've ever wanted to feel like Sherlock Holmes for a few hours, The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes nails that Victorian detective fantasy. You start off staring at a gruesome crime scene in 1888 London—some poor actress got murdered, and everyone's whispering about Jack the Ripper. But of course, it's never that simple.

What I love is how the game makes you think like Holmes. You’re not just clicking around randomly—you actually have to observe details, ask the right questions (Watson’s surprisingly helpful for once), and piece together clues logically. The dialogue system feels real, too—accuse someone too soon, and they’ll shut down on you. Wait until you’ve got proof, though, and watching them squirm is oddly satisfying.

The pixelated London streets and voice acting give it this grainy, old-school charm. One minute you’re examining bloodstains in a theater, the next you’re arguing with Lestrade at Scotland Yard. The puzzles can be tough, but in that good way where solving them actually makes you feel clever. Just don’t expect hand-holding—Holmes wouldn’t approve of that anyway.

It’s one of those games where taking notes on paper actually helps. I still remember the "aha!" moment when I finally connected two seemingly unrelated clues. If you like mysteries that make you work for the answers, this one’s a gem.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
