Game Overview
Man, The Scoop takes me back—this weird little MS-DOS game where you play as a reporter scrambling to get the next big story before your rivals do. You start with just a notepad and a hunch, running around this blocky city trying to figure out which leads actually matter. Half the time I'd waste precious minutes interviewing some random guy about his missing cat while the real scandal slipped away.
The clock’s always ticking, and the controls are janky in that classic DOS way, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about finally piecing together a headline before the deadline. The pixel art’s got charm, too—like if someone mashed up a newspaper drama with the chaos of Paperboy. It’s clunky, sure, but in that "I’ll just try one more run" kind of way. Perfect for when you want something old-school but not another space shooter.
Honestly, it’s a miracle this game even exists—who thought "journalism simulator" would work in 16-bit? But here we are.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
