Game Overview

TinTin: Temple of the Sun came out for the Game Boy Color in 2001, developed and published by Infogrames. It was part of that wave of licensed games that tried to capture the spirit of a franchise on a handheld, back when pixel art and chiptune music were the standard. The game follows the plot of the original comic, sending TinTin and his friends on an adventure through Peru.

You control TinTin through side scrolling levels, using his whip to swing across gaps, attack enemies, and trigger switches. The main goal is to rescue Professor Calculus from a cursed temple, which means navigating trap filled ruins, avoiding boulders and spikes, and occasionally hopping into a minecart for a frantic escape sequence. The pacing is methodical, with careful jumps and timing mattering more than speed, and the difficulty can spike in some of the later stages. It feels like working through a dangerous, interactive storybook where every screen brings a new obstacle to overcome.
