Game Overview

Man, Toe Jam & Earl in Panic auf Funkotron (or just Panic on Funkotron if you're not in Germany) is such a weird, wonderful left turn from the first game. Instead of exploring random islands, you're side-scrolling through their home planet, kicking obnoxious Earthlings off the place with tomatoes and ridiculous slapstick moves. The humans are these exaggerated, cartoony nuisances—one minute you're dodging a kid on a pogo stick, the next some guy in a business suit is chucking papers at you.

The co-op is still a blast, though it’s way more chaotic now with all the platforming. And that soundtrack? Pure early ‘90s funk magic. Some people miss the roguelike vibe of the original, but honestly, the sheer personality in this one—the animations, the jokes, the way Earl’s belly jiggles when he runs—makes up for it. Just don’t expect it to play anything like the first game.

If you’ve got a Genesis (or Mega Drive) collecting dust, this is the kind of game that makes you glad you held onto it.
