Pick a skater and hit the streets—grind rails, nail tricks, and bail hard in this surprisingly smooth GBA port with killer comic-book style.

Game Overview
Tony Hawk’s American Sk8land on the GBA is one of those rare handheld ports that actually gets it right. The cell-shaded comic book style gives it this weirdly timeless look—like someone took a Sharpie to your screen in the best way possible. You start off picking a skater (or making your own disaster of a creation, which I definitely did) and then it just throws you into these open levels full of ramps, half-pipes, and way too many rails to grind on.
The controls are surprisingly smooth for a GBA game—no stiff, awkward movements here. You can actually chain tricks together without feeling like you’re fighting the hardware. And yeah, the soundtrack’s compressed to hell, but there’s something charming about hearing punk riffs squeaking out of those tiny speakers while you ollie over a police car.
What really hooked me were the objectives. One minute you’re collecting spray cans for some graffiti artist, the next you’re trying to knock over pedestrians (accidentally, of course). It’s got that classic Tony Hawk chaos, just shrunk down to fit in your pocket. Still holds up better than most skateboarding games twice its age.
