Game Overview

I remember picking up Toy Story for the Super Nintendo back in 1995, developed by Traveller's Tales. It was one of those licensed games that came out around the time the movie was everywhere, and on the SNES it felt like a pretty solid attempt to bring Woody and Buzz's adventure into a playable form. The graphics tried to capture the look of the film, with big, colorful sprites and some detailed backgrounds that made the levels feel like little dioramas from the movie.

You control Woody through a series of side scrolling levels, jumping on platforms and avoiding obstacles while trying to rescue Buzz and the other toys. The main goal is to progress screen by screen, dealing with enemies like mutant toys and robotic adversaries. Woody uses his pull string lasso to swing across gaps or attack foes, and you also get to drive RC cars in some fast paced chase sequences. The difficulty can spike in certain sections, especially when precision jumping is required, but the controls are responsive enough to make it manageable. It feels like a straightforward, action focused platformer that captures the energy of the film without overcomplicating things.
