Play Treasure Trap Online

Diving as Howard Kelp, you stack crates and dodge hyper-aggressive jellyfish while your oxygen ticks down—those "smart fishes" better last, because the Esmerelda’s 100 rooms won’t explore themselves.

Game Overview

Treasure Trap came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Electronic Zoo. It was a straightforward dungeon crawler from an era when many games relied on simple mechanics and player persistence rather than elaborate stories or graphics. You moved through a maze-like environment, one screen at a time, with the goal of gathering treasure while avoiding traps and enemies.

You control an adventurer exploring a multi-level dungeon, collecting keys and treasure while fighting monsters with a sword or bow. The game uses screen-by-screen navigation, where each new area might contain hidden switches, sudden pitfalls, or enemy encounters. Progression is methodical; you often backtrack to use newly found keys or avoid previously triggered hazards. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty comes from limited resources and unpredictable enemy placement. It feels tense and cautious, like carefully testing each step in an ancient, booby-trapped tomb.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
