Game Overview

Treasure Trap is one of those Amiga gems that feels like a mix of Head Over Heels and a fever dream about deep-sea treasure hunting. You play as Howard Kelp, a diver in the 1920s poking around a sunken ship full of gold—and, of course, hostile sea creatures. The isometric view makes navigation a little tricky at first, but you get the hang of hopping over crabs and dodging jellyfish pretty quick.

Your only real defense is these weird "smart fishes"—basically trained piranhas—but you start with just two, and they’re gone in a flash. Most of the time, you’re stacking crates to block enemies or scrambling for air tanks before your gauge runs out. The keys are these geometric shapes you’ve gotta match to doors, and good luck remembering which one goes where after a while. It’s tense, but in that satisfying way where every gold bar feels like a tiny victory. Just don’t expect the fish to bail you out often.

Oh, and the game only lets you save after every 50 gold bars—so yeah, you’ll be sweating over that air meter a lot. It’s the kind of game where you’ll shout at the screen, then immediately dive back in.
