I picked up Turok 2: Seeds of Evil for the Game Boy Color back when portable 3D shooters were rare. It was developed by Bit Managers and published by Acclaim, and it tried to bring the console FPS feel to a handheld. For its time, it was an ambitious attempt, even if the hardware limited what it could really do.
You control Turok, a warrior tasked with stopping an alien invasion by destroying bio-mechanical seeds across different levels. The game plays from a first-person perspective, with screen-by-screen movement through maze-like environments. You use a variety of weapons, like bows and firearms, to defeat enemies and solve simple puzzles. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be unforgiving due to limited visibility and tight spaces. It feels tense and immersive in short bursts, though the controls take some getting used to.
