Play UFO: Enemy Unknown (X-COM: UFO Defense) Online
You juggle interceptors and research while scrambling rookies to crash sites, then sweat through turn-based firefights where one wrong move means burying your best soldier.

Game Overview
UFO: Enemy Unknown (or X-COM: UFO Defense if you're in the US) is one of those games that somehow still feels fresh decades later. You start in 1999—yes, the future—with a single base and a handful of soldiers, scientists, and engineers. The Geoscape screen shows Earth from space, dotted with UFO sightings and panic zones. You scramble interceptors, manage research, and pray your rookie soldiers don’t panic the first time they see a Sectoid.
Then there’s the Battlescape, where things get messy. Turn-based combat with permadeath means every shot counts, and losing a veteran soldier hurts. The mix of base management and tactical fights feels overwhelming at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be micro-managing scientists to research plasma rifles while your Skyranger drops troops into terror missions. Just don’t get too attached to anyone.
It’s brutal, brilliant, and still one of the best strategy games ever made.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
