Ufouria: The Saga came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, developed by Sunsoft. It was part of that wave of late NES games that really pushed the hardware, offering a big, interconnected world to explore instead of just linear stages. You control a boy named Hebe, who wakes up with no memory in a strange land. The goal is to find and rescue your three lost friends, each with a unique ability, like jumping higher or swimming underwater. The exploration is screen by screen, and you need specific characters to access new areas, which gives the game a nice sense of progression. Combat is simple, mostly jumping on enemies or using a boomerang, but the real challenge comes from navigating the environment and finding all the hidden exits. It moves at a deliberate pace, not too fast, and the difficulty comes from exploration rather than brutal enemy patterns. Playing it feels like slowly unraveling a large, slightly goofy map where every new path matters.
