Ultima III: Exodus came out on the Amiga in 1983 from Origin Systems, a time when computer RPGs were just starting to define themselves with deeper worlds and more complex systems than many of their contemporaries. It was part of that early wave of games that asked you to invest not just your reflexes, but your planning and imagination.

You control a custom party of four adventurers, moving them together across an overworld, into towns, and through multi-level dungeons in a quest to defeat the evil Exodus. The game combines top-down exploration with separate, turn-based combat screens where you position your party and choose actions against enemies. You’ll need to manage equipment, learn spells, and steadily improve your characters’ stats to survive the increasingly difficult foes. Progress is deliberate, sometimes slow, and requires careful resource management, making every successful battle or discovered secret feel genuinely earned. It feels like piecing together a dangerous world through your own cautious efforts.
