Game Overview

Ultima Trilogy I, II & III came out in 1989 for MS-DOS, developed and published by Origin Systems. These games were part of that early wave of PC RPGs where you spent a lot of time reading the manual and mapping dungeons on graph paper. They didn't hold your hand, but they offered a sense of scale and freedom that felt new at the time.

You control the Avatar, a hero pulled from our world into the fantasy realm of Britannia. Your main goal shifts between the three games, but generally involves stopping a major villain by traveling the overworld, exploring towns, and delving into multi-level dungeons. You navigate the world screen by screen, engaging in turn-based combat with swords and spells, and you must carefully manage your party's food and hit points. The pacing is deliberate, often slow, and the difficulty is unforgiving; getting lost or ambushed is common. Playing it feels like slowly unraveling a complex, sometimes obtuse, but deeply personal adventure where every small victory matters.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
