Game Overview

Ultra Evolution Digimon D-3 came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Bandai. It was part of that wave of late-era GBC titles that tried to squeeze a little more out of the hardware before the Advance took over. The game was a direct tie-in to the Digimon anime, letting you step into the role of a DigiDestined with your own partner.

You control a young tamer raising a digital monster from an egg. Your main goal is to explore various digital worlds, fight other Digimon, and help your partner evolve into stronger forms. The gameplay revolves around raising your Digimon through feeding, training, and cleaning; engaging in turn-based battles where timing your attacks correctly boosts their power; and navigating screen-by-screen environments that hide items and secrets. The pacing is deliberate, with a focus on daily care routines, and the difficulty can spike during boss encounters. It feels like having a persistent, sometimes stubborn companion whose growth depends entirely on your attention.
