Universe came out in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Core Design. It was a time when space adventures and sci-fi themes were common on PC, and this one tried to carve its own path with a mix of action and exploration, though it never quite reached the same recognition as some other titles from that era.

You control Boris, an ordinary guy thrown into a chaotic galactic conflict, navigating screen by screen through alien environments and space stations. Your main goal is to survive the machinations of various factions while uncovering your supposed role as a prophesied hero. You engage in real-time combat using a variety of weapons, from energy blades to projectile firearms, and solve environmental puzzles to progress. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes sluggish, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly due to unclear objectives or tough enemy encounters. It feels like stumbling through a strange, low-budget sci-fi episode where nothing is ever as simple as it seems.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
