War Eagles was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though I don't recall the developer or publisher offhand. It came out during that era when flight sims and arcade shooters were really finding their footing on PC, sitting somewhere between the complexity of full sims and the instant action of coin-op ports.
You pilot a fighter plane through side-scrolling levels, shooting down enemy aircraft and ground targets while dodging a relentless barrage of projectiles. The main goal is survival; you push forward screen by screen, facing increasingly aggressive waves of foes. Key mechanics include collecting power-ups to enhance your weapons and managing limited fuel, which adds a constant pressure to keep moving. The pacing is fast, the difficulty steep, with little room for error. It feels like a tense, high-stakes dance where every small victory comes with a sigh of relief.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
