West Phaser came out in 1989 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Loriciel SA. It was one of those straightforward action games from the era, built for quick sessions and simple controls, typical of the platform at the time.
You control a lone gunslinger making your way through a series of western-themed screens, clearing out bandits and avoiding environmental hazards. The main goal is to survive each stage, using your limited ammunition wisely and picking off enemies before they get too close. Signature mechanics include screen-by-screen progression, where each new area loads with its own layout and threats, and a health system represented by a burning candle that shortens with each hit. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty is unforgiving; one wrong move often means starting over. It feels tense and immediate, demanding quick reflexes and careful movement.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
