Wetrix GB came out for the Game Boy Color in 1998, developed by Zed Two. It was a puzzle game that stood out on the platform, offering something different from the usual platformers and RPGs of the time. The game had a clean, colorful look that made good use of the handheld's capabilities without trying to be overly flashy.
You control a cursor to drop and rotate polyomino pieces onto a 3D landscape, shaping the terrain to contain water from rainfall. The main objective is to prevent flooding by building dams and basins; you also deal with droughts, earthquakes, and fireballs that complicate your efforts. The pacing starts relaxed but quickly becomes demanding as weather events intensify. It feels tense and satisfying when you manage a near overflow, then release water safely into a well placed drain.
