You control a variety of ships and characters across the six included games, with the main objective always being survival and a high score. In Robotron: 2084, you frantically maneuver a lone hero through screens packed with enemies, using independent firing and movement controls to fend off swarms. Defender tasks you with flying horizontally across a landscape, rescuing humans from abduction while managing a complex radar and smart bomb system. The pacing is almost universally frantic, and the difficulty is unapologetically steep, a direct translation of the arcade experience. It feels like a genuine, if sometimes clumsy, effort to preserve a specific era of challenge.
