Game Overview

Wishbringer is one of those old-school text adventures where you type commands like "open mailbox" or "ask wizard about stone," but with a twist—it's got graphics too, which was pretty fancy for its time. You play as a mail carrier who stumbles into this weird fantasy town, and there's this glowing stone that grants wishes (sort of).

At first, I kept getting stuck because the parser expects really specific phrasing, but once you get the hang of it, the world opens up in this charmingly bizarre way. There’s a cat that might help you if you’re nice, a grumpy lighthouse keeper, and a bunch of puzzles that make just enough sense to feel satisfying when you solve them. The "magick" stone lets you toggle between normal and fantasy modes, which changes how objects behave—handy, but also easy to forget about when you're deep in the story.

It’s not as punishing as some Infocom games, but you’ll still want to save often. The writing’s got that dry humor they were known for, and the Amiga version’s visuals add a little extra atmosphere. If you like classic adventure games with a bit of whimsy, this one’s a solid pick.
