Game Overview

Woody Poko is one of those weird little NES games that makes you go, "Wait, why didn’t we get this in the West?" You play as this tiny guy with a hammer, smashing blocks and dodging enemies in these maze-like stages to save his girlfriend—classic 80s video game logic. The whole thing feels like if someone took Bubble Bobble and Lode Runner, tossed them in a blender, and added a bunch of destructible terrain just for fun.

The music’s stupidly catchy, the sprites are bright and cartoony, and the controls are simple enough that you’ll be bouncing around within seconds. But don’t let the cute look fool you—some of those later stages get sneaky with their layouts. It’s the kind of game where you’ll lose track of time because you keep saying, "Okay, just one more level."

If you’re into obscure retro stuff, this one’s a blast. Just don’t blame me when the soundtrack gets stuck in your head.
