Game Overview

World Cup - All Time Greats on the Amiga is one of those games that makes you realize how much fun simple soccer sims used to be. You pick from classic national teams—somehow Brazil always feels overpowered, but maybe that’s just me—and jump straight into matches with that chunky, colorful 16-bit style. The controls are basic—pass, shoot, tackle—but there’s a weirdly satisfying rhythm to it once you get the hang of sliding tackles.

What I love is how fast it plays. No endless menus or cutscenes, just kickoff and chaos. The crowd noise is hilariously tinny, and the players move like little sprites on caffeine, but that’s part of the charm. You’ll score a lot of 5-4 games, and the AI occasionally does something baffling, like your defender randomly booting the ball into his own net. Still, it’s hard to stay mad when the whole thing feels like a love letter to ’90s soccer games.

If you’ve got an Amiga or an emulator, it’s worth a few matches just for the nostalgia hit.
