Game Overview

I picked up X-Men: Wolverine's Rage for the Game Boy Color back in 2000, a time when handheld games were often short, colorful bursts of action. It was published by LJN, a name you'd see on a lot of licensed games back then. This one let you step into the adamantium claws of Wolverine, which was a pretty solid premise for a portable brawler.

You control Logan through a series of side-scrolling levels, slashing through Sentinels and other enemies with his claws. The main goal is straightforward: fight through each stage to eventually confront Sabretooth. The game uses a screen-by-screen progression, locking you into small combat arenas until you clear all the foes. You have to manage a rage meter that builds as you take damage; letting it max out sends you into a temporary berserker state. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty can feel punishing with some awkward platforming and enemy attacks that are hard to avoid. It feels like a tough, condensed brawler that captures the character's fury in short, intense sessions.
