Xenopods came out as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though I don't recall the developer's name offhand. It's one of those early platformers that feels very much of its time, with simple graphics and a focus on quick, unforgiving action. You control a small astronaut or explorer, navigating a series of single-screen rooms filled with hazards.
Your goal is to survive each screen by avoiding the alien blobs, which move in erratic, pulsing patterns. There's no attacking; you just jump and dodge, learning the timing through repeated failure. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty spikes quickly, demanding precise movement. It feels tense and unpredictable, like trying to outmaneuver something that doesn't follow the rules you expect. Playing it is a mix of frustration and fascination, never quite letting you get comfortable.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
