Game Overview

Man, Yuu Yuu Hakusho on SNES takes me back. It’s one of those anime fighters that actually got it right—none of that clunky, half-baked adaptation nonsense. You pick Yusuke, Kuwabara, or whoever else from the crew, and suddenly you’re firing off spirit guns and sword slashes like it’s the Dark Tournament arc. The pixel art nails the show’s vibe, especially Hiei’s dragon flame attacks or Kurama’s rose whip nonsense.

What’s cool is how the team mechanics work—you tag in allies for assists, which was pretty wild for a 16-bit fighter. The controls are tight, too. No awkward button combos; just smooth, satisfying special moves that actually land when you want them to. It’s got that classic SNES charm where the screen fills up with flashy energy blasts, and somehow the system doesn’t explode.

If you missed this back in the day, it’s worth digging up—especially if you’ve got a soft spot for 90s anime or fighters that don’t take themselves too seriously. Still holds up better than most licensed games from that era.
