Game Overview

Zool no Yume Bouken—or just Zool if you're not playing the Japanese version—is one of those games that feels like it was designed after someone binge-watched Saturday morning cartoons while eating a whole bag of gummy bears. You play as this hyper ninja dude from another dimension, blitzing through levels that look like they were dreamed up by a kid hopped up on too much soda. Candy landscapes, toy-themed obstacles, enemies that look like they belong in a fever dream—it’s all here.

The controls are snappy, which is good because you’ll need quick reflexes. One second you’re bouncing off giant marshmallows, the next you’re dodging spinning gears or slicing through weird little creatures. And that soundtrack? Pure early '90s synth energy—it somehow makes everything feel even faster.

Originally an Amiga game, the SNES version smooths out some of the rough edges while keeping all the chaotic charm. It’s not the deepest platformer out there, but if you want something fast, flashy, and just plain weird, Zool’s got you covered. You’ll either love it or wonder what the heck you just played.
