Game Overview

This Atari 2600 double-pack from 1990 gives you two very different games for the price of one. Planet Patrol is your classic space shooter—aliens swarm in from the top of the screen while you dodge and blast them with a tiny ship that somehow feels both sluggish and twitchy at the same time (classic Atari physics). Wall Defender’s the more interesting one though—you’re constantly repairing gaps in a wall while enemies try to break through, and there’s something weirdly satisfying about frantically plugging holes as the attacks get faster.

Neither game’s going to blow your mind, but there’s a certain charm to how straightforward they are. The HES re-releases always felt a little rough around the edges compared to the original Atari carts, but if you grew up with PAL consoles, that’s probably part of the nostalgia. Perfect for when you want that old-school arcade fix without overcomplicating things.
