Game Overview

Aero the Acro-Bat came out on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, developed by Iguana Entertainment. It was part of that wave of early 90s platformers where every character had an animal gimmick, and it stood out with its circus theme and a protagonist who was, well, a bat in a jester outfit.

You control Aero, navigating levels screen by screen to rescue your friends from the evil clown, Edgar Ektor. Your main moves are a high, floaty jump and a spin attack to take out enemies. The level design is built around bouncing off trampolines, getting shot from cannons, and carefully timing your flips to avoid bottomless pits. The pacing is fast, but the difficulty is unforgiving; one mistimed jump often sends you back to the start. It feels like a constant test of precision, where every successful bounce is a small victory.
