Game Overview
Alex the Allegator 2 is a strategic board game for MS-DOS, originally created for the Allegro Speedhack 2001 game development event. At first glance, it resembles Othello with its 8×8 grid and tile-placing mechanics, but it introduces unique twists. Players take turns placing colored tiles or sliding rows and columns to form matching squares of four tiles, which are then cleared for points. The goal is to outscore your opponent before all tiles are used.What sets the game apart are its dynamic mechanics: forming a rectangle of six tiles earns a wildcard yellow tile, while randomly appearing gray tiles add unpredictability. Cleverly, points can be scored from either player’s tiles, rewarding tactical plays over simple matches. Whether against AI or a friend, Alex the Allegator 2 offers a fresh take on classic board game strategy with its blend of sliding moves and competitive scoring.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
